Help launch the Phil’s historic 80th season with a fantastic birthday celebration bash, featuring a wonderful cellist, Deborah Pae performing a “Dance for Cello and Orchestra” by composer Anna Clyne. The night truly showcases the power of the renowned orchestra and a diverse range of pieces including a “Birthday Fantasia” by Zhou Tian and Beethoven’s fabulous “Overture to Fidelio, Op. 72).” Expect an opening night to remember.

The Formosa Quartet’s opening concert of the season features the world premiere of Sitting on the Clouds by Shi-Hui Chen. Her new work explores the intersection of the modern world with bird migration patterns. Houston’s location along the North American Central Flyway makes it a special place to experience this piece, with many avian species overhead making their way south.
